Spring is approaching, and it's a beautiful time to visit any one of the lovely restaurants in Midway, KY. But don't take the interstate; take a leisurely drive meandering through horse country to breathe in the Bluegrass and take your time. We recently built a house in the country near Midway and have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the quaint spots the historic small town of Midway has to offer.
Today, we visited The Goose and Gander family restaurant and pub on Main Street. As any watering hole should, the menu offers a full selection of hearty appetizers, burgers, brats, pastas, and pizza as well as whatever libation suits your fancy.
For our lunch today, we opted for the delicious vegetarian pizza, more than ample for sharing. At under $20 and with a diameter of 16" (enough for 2-3 people), this is a lunch bargain! Normally, I only order pizza from dedicated Italian restaurants or pizza joints, but this pizza rivals the best I've had in the region. Pizza is certainly personal, and most are picky about their favorites: New York style, Chicago style, Chicago deep-dish, etc. I do enjoy them all, but a thin and crispy crust ranks as my favorite. If thin is up your alley, then you'll be happy you tried this one. The veggies were fresh and the cheese plentiful topping the perfectly crisp, house-made crust. We didn't sample it, but there is also a gluten-free crust option in a smaller size.
And with plenty of TVs, delicious pub fare, and session beverages to accompany, The Goose and Gander makes perfect spot to follow the game!
